My passion for wine started in 2003 with a glass of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This glass of wine was a turning point in my appreciation of great American wine and sparked something in me which made me want to share the experience of fabulous wine with others.
After 20 years of raising a family and sending our daughters off to University, my husband, David, and I moved to New York City in 2010. Here in New York, I have studied with the American Sommelier Association, The Court of Master Sommeliers, The Wine and Spirit Education Trust and the Society of Wine Educators.
In 2005, I visited Napa and Sonoma for the first time and while I was there I had the privilege of meeting Stephen Hansel from Walter Hansel Winery who was kind enough to give me a tour of his facility and an introduction to wine growing methods. From the first time that I met Stephen he encouraged me to pursue my passion for wine. He has been very supportive with the creation of YourWineStylist.
In late September 2011, David and I met Paul Hobbs and his lovely wife, Cristina, in New York City. He later extended an invitation for me to participate in his internship program at his winery in Sonoma. So, one week later I was on a plane to San Francisco and I spent 2 glorious weeks, with 6 other interns, at the Paul Hobbs winery. This experience helped me to understand the hard work and attention to detail that is required to make a truly fine wine.
I returned to Paul Hobbs every harvest thereafter until eventually David and I found the perfect properties, Ross House and Ross Cottage in Sebastopol, for our future. With the added benefit of some acreage we will have the ability to cultivate our own vineyard.
My plan for the future is to encourage your visit to Sonoma to experience the true beauty of this land and the fine wines it produces. Guests will have an opportunity to stay at Ross House or Ross Cottage while I arrange their reservations at the many great restaurants and wineries within a short distance of the property.
